This Land is Your Land

Did you know that our 2012 theme is THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND, in honor of Woody Guthrie’s centennial and in accordance with our PRONK! philosophy?

A couple hundred (we hope) school kids will be joining us at the end of the parade to sing Woody’s famous folk song, accompanied by 200+ PRONK! musicians.

Here are the lyrics we’ll be singing so you can get ready!

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me

As I was walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway
I saw below me a golden valley
This land was made for you and me

In the squares of the city, by the shadow of the steeple
By the relief office, I saw my people
As they stood hungry, I stood there wonderin’
If this land was made for you and me

Nobody living can ever stop me,
As I go walking that freedom highway;
Nobody living can make me turn back
‘Cause this land was made for you and me.

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me
